Out of The Mist

winterdragon

Appearing from the mist like a dazzling illusion
Watching, waiting, two in collusion
Two creatures once enemies how tragic
Their bond is far stronger than omens or magic
The battles for the realm far behind them
They guard the one entrance to the city of Golem
The princess awaits him to claim her devotion
He hesitates and ponders with timid emotion
Her long flowing mane of pure golden silk
Wonder he does how she could love one of his ilk

Yet love him she does with all of her heart
His quandary now damningly, how do we part
His minion, his friend and his loyal companion
Only his kind can enter as a hero or a champion
Apart they were awesome, together invincible
To be otherwise seems awfully incredible
To chose between love and undying camaraderie
Which way is the right way, why this awful quandary

Together they sit in the mist like an illusion
Two loyal friends two minds in collusion
One heart is torn outwards the other torn in
To keep one from loving would be a great sin
A slight distinction between bonding and loving
But hearts tell the difference and minds do the suffering
Their sorrow inevitable their futures amiss
Deciding they parted with a handshake and a kiss

Now standing alone in the magical mist
Watching his friend fly away his thoughts did enlist
At the gates of the realm he saw his friend smile
Knowing his heart was pounding all of the while
The princess appeared like a vision of pure gold
His old friend was happy, his love sure and bold
Together they flew to the caverns of Caulderon
To live out their lives with fond memories and a son

Out of the mist the valiant Warrior stood tall
Thinking of his scaly friend and smiling about it all
Dreamily wishing for site of his own silken haired love
Looking down upon her home from so far above
How sad to lose happiness because of his status
But knowing full well his life also had a plus
What a wonderful life to have had such a friend
